Another week another goal conceded from absolutely nowhere. I'm tired
Been watching this club for over 20 years and I swear the defensive shambles never changes. Different managers different players different owners, same result. We concede the softest goals in this division and its been that way for as long as I can remember.
Saturday was a perfect example. Decent performance, looked like we might actually get something from the game, then one moment of pure stupidity at the back and its gone. How many times have we seen that this season? Ten? Fifteen?
And before anyone says be positive, I've tried. Was positive in the summer when we signed new defenders. Was positive when the new manager came in. Was positive after that good run in October. But every single time we find a way to let ourselves down.
Its not even bad luck at this point. Its a pattern. We don't learn. Same types of goals same lapses in concentration same lack of communication between the centre halves. Groundhog Day.
Thing that really gets me is watching other teams at this level, teams with less money less resources less talent, and they've got defenders who can actually defend. Who can clear the ball properly. Who dont switch off for thirty seconds and cost us the game.
I'll still be there Saturday because I'm an idiot who loves this club. But I fully expect to be sat in my seat at some point with my head in my hands wondering why I bother
