With kids to entertain and a budget to stick to, I’m always looking for good family days out near Hull. Here are some of our favourites within about a 30-minute drive:
Beverley — Gorgeous market town, great for a wander. The Minster is free to visit and genuinely impressive. Loads of nice cafes and independent shops. Saturday market is brilliant.
Hornsea Mere & Freeport — Nice walk around the mere, kids can feed the ducks, then hit the outlet shops. Free parking by the mere too.
Humber Bridge Country Park — Completely free and really underrated. Lovely walks through the woods, a chalk cliff viewpoint, and obviously the bridge itself which is still an engineering marvel. Great for burning off kids’ energy.
Sewerby Hall near Bridlington — Bit further out but worth the drive. The hall, gardens, zoo, and cliff-top walks make it a full day out. Good value with a family ticket.
North Cave Wetlands — If your kids are into nature and wildlife, this is a hidden gem. Free entry, several hides for birdwatching, and quiet enough that you actually see stuff. Proper peaceful.
What are your go-to family days out from
Hull?

Beverley is class, especially on market day. I’d add Burton Constable Hall as well — the grounds are massive and the kids can run around for hours while you enjoy the peace. Also Welton Waters is a nice quiet spot for a walk that most people seem to have forgotten about.
