Up the Tigers! 🐯

Summer can't come soon enough to be honest. We need at least two or three quality additions if we're serious about pushing on next season. A proven Championship striker is the priority for me. we've been crying out for a reliable 15-20 goals a season man for years. Whoever comes in needs to hit the ground running, no settling in period. What positions are others targeting?

Heard a few whispers about a couple of names but I'm not getting excited until I see them in amber and black. We've been linked with players every summer for years and half of them never materialise. That said, the club does seem a bit more organised than it used to be in the transfer market. Just need to back the manager properly this time and not do things on the cheap. 🤞

Been catching up on a few bits of transfer news and rumours around the club today and thought I'd throw this in here to see what everyone else thinks.

One name that popped up is Josh Hebert, the 18-year-old attacking midfielder from Dorking Wanderers. Apparently Hull are one of several clubs keeping an eye on him after a recent trial at Charlton. Sounds like a lot of teams are interested, so nothing concrete yet, but it looks like the club is still trying to identify young talent with potential rather than only going for established players.

Personally I quite like that approach. If we can pick up players before their value explodes, it’s smart business. We’ve seen clubs in the Championship make serious money doing exactly that.

Another thing I keep seeing mentioned is the situation with Joe Gelhardt. There’s talk that the club would like to make his move permanent if the deal can be worked out in the summer. If that happens, I think it would be massive for us. He’s shown flashes of real quality and feels like the type of forward who could thrive if he gets a full season as a regular starter.

For me the key this summer is balance.
We probably need:

• One reliable centre-back
• A creative midfielder
• Another winger with pace

If we manage that while keeping the core of the squad together, I honestly think we could be right in the mix again next season.

Curious what everyone else thinks.

Would you take a gamble on young players like Hebert, or should the club focus on proven Championship players instead?

Bumping this for the summer window chat – things have moved on a bit since January!
First off, massive respect to the club for the business done in the winter window. Bringing in Kieran Dowell permanently (from Rangers), Paddy McNair, loans like Toby Collyer (Man Utd), Lewis Koumas (Liverpool – looked sharp when he played), Yu Hirakawa (though gutted about his ankle decision to skip surgery for World Cup hopes), plus others like the young ones – it feels like we've finally got some proper depth and options under Sergej. Squad looks more balanced than this time last year.
On the rumours front right now (March 2026):
Kasey Palmer – looks like he's pushing for a permanent switch to Luton where he's on loan. Ex-Arsenal voices reckon it's best for him to stay there if a deal's right. Shame if we lose him, but if it funds something bigger...
Stjepan Radeljić (Rijeka CB) – renewed interest mentioned, contract running down so could be a cheap-ish Bosnian option at the back if we need cover/competition.
Joe Gelhardt – still think making this permanent has to be priority #1 if he keeps performing. He's got the quality to be our main striker and bang in 15+ in this league.
Outgoings potential: Regan Slater's contract extended (good news, kept Sheff Utd etc away). Some chatter about letting Palmer go to raise funds, and maybe one or two fringe players if decent offers come in.
Big needs for summer still feel the same as what was said earlier in the thread: a proper proven Championship goalscorer (15-20 a season type), another solid CB if Radeljić or similar doesn't happen, creative spark in midfield, and pacy wide options. With the squad at ~29 players now and us sitting nicely in/around playoffs (5th last I checked on Transfermarkt), backing Sergej properly could push us over the line.
What do people think – go young/trial prospects like that Josh Hebert lad from earlier in the thread, or spend on experience? Any fresh links floating about that I've missed?

Hull City want to sign Toby Collyer permanently, despite the midfielder being ruled out for the rest of the season through injury. Acun Ilıcalı's representatives have already held preliminary talks with Manchester United.
Collyer managed just five games for the Tigers, totalling only 104 minutes, after being ruled out for the remainder of the season following a training ground collision.
Hull City are keen to bring him back in the summer window, though their plans depend heavily on which league they'll be playing in. Another loan from United looks the most likely outcome, and Collyer is said to have unfinished business with the club.

Are we not going up, then? 😀
