Set my alarm for five thirty on Saturday and drove down to the Humber Bridge to watch the sunrise. Honestly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in Hull and it cost absolutely nothing.
Got there about ten minutes before sunrise and walked halfway across from the Hull side. There was nobody else there. The sky went from dark blue to orange to pink and then the sun came up over Lincolnshire and the whole estuary turned golden. The bridge cables were catching the light and it looked like something out of a film.
Stood there for about twenty minutes just watching. A couple of ships passed underneath and the sound of the water was the only thing you could hear. No traffic, no people, no phones. Just the bridge and the river and the sky.
I know it sounds cheesy but moments like that remind me why I love living here. You don't need to go to the Lake District or Scotland for beautiful scenery. It's right on your doorstep.
If you've never done it get yourself down there one morning. You won't regret it.
