My boiler's packed in and the heating's gone right before the cold snap this week. Typical. Rang three plumbers this morning and nobody can come until next week. One quoted me four hundred quid just to look at it which feels like robbery.
Does anyone have a reliable plumber they can recommend? Preferably someone who actually answers their phone and doesn't charge a fortune. West Hull area ideally but honestly at this point I'll take anyone who can come before my pipes freeze.
The joys of home ownership eh.

Dave's Plumbing on Anlaby Road. He's a one man band but he's reliable, reasonably priced, and he actually turns up when he says he will which puts him ahead of about 90% of tradespeople. Fixed our boiler last winter for about a hundred and fifty quid including parts. His number is on his van but I'll DM you it. Good luck, being without heating in February is grim.

Stay away from the big national companies. They charge a fortune for a callout and then the actual bloke who turns up is usually a subcontractor anyway. Local one man bands are always better because their reputation is everything. Try asking on the Hull community Facebook groups too, you'll get about fifty recommendations within an hour. Someone recommended a lad called Steve to us last year, came same day, fixed the leak, charged us eighty quid. That's the Hull way.

Check if your boiler is still under warranty first because you might be able to get it fixed for free. Most boilers have a five to ten year manufacturer warranty. Other than that I'd echo what others have said, find a local independent plumber through word of mouth. The reviews on Google are useful but some of them are clearly fake so take them with a pinch of salt. Whoever you use make sure they're Gas Safe registered because if they're not your insurance is void.
