Right, been meaning to post this for a while. Fourth in the league isn't a fluke - there's actually some proper tactical nous behind what we're doing this season.
The 3-4-3 system is working a treat, but it's how we're using it that's got me buzzing. Remember the dross we served up in League One? Night and day difference.
Wing-backs are the key
Coyle's been absolutely mustard down the left. Gets up and down all game, proper engine on him. His delivery's improved massively as well. When we had the likes of Elder doing that job it was painful to watch, but now we've got lads who can actually cross a ball.
Three at the back finally makes sense
Been sceptical of this system in the past but Jones has been immense. Having that extra body at the back means we're not getting caught out like we used to. We can actually push forward without bricking it every time the opposition counter.
The front three
Philogene's a different class when he cuts inside. Defences don't know whether to stick or twist with him. Palmer's movement is clever too - always finding pockets of space. The rotation between them is causing teams all sorts of problems.
What's really impressed me is the in-game management. Rosenior actually seems to know what he's doing with subs, which makes a refreshing change from some of our previous gaffers.
Playoffs looking realistic if we keep this up. Dare I say it... automatic promotion's not out of the question?
Thoughts?
