Found a new route last Sunday and I'm obsessed. Start at St Andrew's Quay, follow the cycle path along the Humber towards Hessle, past the Country Park, under the Humber Bridge, and carry on to the foreshore. About twelve miles round trip and it's almost entirely flat and off road.
The views are incredible. You've got the Humber on one side, the bridge getting closer and closer, and on a clear morning the light on the water is something else. I passed maybe five other people the entire ride. On a Sunday morning you basically have the whole estuary to yourself.
Stopped under the bridge for a coffee from the flask and just sat there for ten minutes watching a container ship come up the river. There's something about the scale of those ships passing under the bridge that never gets old.
If you've got a bike and you live in Hull this route is essential. It's not a hard ride, the path is decent, and it's the kind of thing that makes you think why doesn't everyone know about this? Hull's waterfront is genuinely world class and nobody outside the city has any idea.
