Kids are expensive enough without having to spend a fortune on entertainment. Thankfully Hull’s got loads of free stuff to keep them occupied. Here’s our family’s tried and tested list:
Hull Maritime Museum — Free entry, recently refurbished, and the kids love the whale skeletons and the fishing heritage exhibits. Educational without being boring.
Ferens Art Gallery — Also free. They’ve got some impressive paintings and the kids’ activity trails make it accessible for younger ones. The building itself is worth seeing.
East Park — Hull’s biggest park with a splash pad in summer, a small animal enclosure, playgrounds, and a boating lake. You can easily spend half a day here without spending a penny.
Humber Bridge Country Park — Free parking, free entry, lovely woodland walks and a brilliant viewpoint. Pack a picnic and you’ve got a full day out for the cost of some sandwiches.
Hull City Centre Street Art Trail — Since City of Culture there’s loads of murals and public art dotted around the city centre. Make a game of finding them all with the kids.
Pearson Park — Beautiful Victorian park in the Avenues area. The conservatory has been restored and the playground is decent. A real hidden gem.
