If you haven’t done the full Hull Marina walk recently, you’re missing out. I did it last weekend on a crisp Sunday morning and it reminded me why I love this city.
Start at The Deep, walk along the river past the tidal barrier, then round into the marina itself. Past all the boats, through to the Princes Quay area, then loop back through the Old Town. Takes about an hour at a leisurely pace and it’s completely flat so pushchairs and wheelchairs are fine.
The marina area has really come into its own. The boats, the waterfront bars, the views across to the industrial south bank — it’s got character that you won’t find in some generic city centre development.
On a clear day the light reflecting off the water is genuinely beautiful. I know Hull doesn’t get many clear days but when it does, the waterfront is special.
Anyone else a fan of this walk? Any other good walks in and around H
ull?

This is my go-to recommendation for anyone visiting Hull. The full loop from The Deep round the marina and back through the Old Town covers all the best bits of the city in about an hour. Add in a coffee stop at one of the Humber Street cafes and it’s the perfect morning. The Humber Bridge walk is the other one — walking across and back is about 2.5km and the views are incredible.
