This should be fun. Yorkshire’s got three main cities and everyone thinks theirs is the best. So let’s have it — Hull, Leeds, or Sheffield?
Leeds has the nightlife, the shopping, and the big city buzz. Fair play. Sheffield’s got the Peak District on its doorstep and a decent music scene. Both are solid cities.
But for me Hull wins on affordability, community spirit, and potential. We’re the city that’s still on the way up. Leeds peaked years ago and everything’s overpriced now. Sheffield’s nice but it’s got an identity crisis — can’t decide if it wants to be Manchester or the countryside.
Hull knows exactly what it is. A proud, working-class city with a chip on its shoulder and a point to prove. And we’ve got the Humber Bridge, which is worth more than anything Leeds or Sheffield have got. Fight me.
Go on then — where does your loyalty lie and
why?

Hull every day of the week and I’m not even being biased. Well maybe a bit. But seriously, the cost of living alone makes it a winner. My cousin bought a three-bed semi in Anlaby for what a one-bed flat costs in Leeds city centre. Quality of life matters more than having a Harvey Nichols.
