Bloody hell, what a difference a few months makes. Joe Gelhardt's having himself a proper season isn't he? 10 goals from 19 appearances - that's the sort of return we've been crying out for up front.
I'll be honest, when we first brought him in I wasn't entirely convinced. Plenty of potential sure, but potential doesn't win you matches. But fair play to the lad, he's really stepped up this season alongside Oli McBurnie. The two of them seem to have developed a proper understanding up top.
What I'm most impressed with is his work rate. He's not just standing around waiting for service - he's dropping deep, linking play, making runs behind. That's the sort of effort you want to see from your striker.
With Swansea at the MKM today and us sitting 4th on 47 points, we need him firing on all cylinders if we're serious about these playoffs. He's shown he can do it against the likes of Southampton and Preston, but consistency is key.
Question is - do we think this is his level now, or is he capable of even more? And more importantly, can he stay fit and keep this run going through to May?
What do you lot reckon? Is Gelhardt the real deal or are we getting carried away?
This feels like a natural discussion a Hull fan would start after seeing Gelhardt's impressive goal tally, especially on matchday when they're playing at home and pushing for playoffs.
