There seem to be new housing developments popping up all around Hull at the moment. Kingswood is still expanding, there are new builds around Brough and Hessle, and I’ve seen plans for development near the waterfront.
The question is — are new builds actually worth it? You get a brand new house with a warranty, modern insulation, and everything’s clean and fresh. But they’re often smaller than older properties for the same price, the build quality can be questionable, and the estates can feel a bit soulless.
I’ve been looking at Kingswood specifically. The houses look nice enough and the retail park is convenient, but some people I’ve spoken to say the area feels disconnected from the rest of Hull. No pubs, no character, just houses and a big Tesco.
Anyone living in a new build around Hull? What’s the reality like? Would you recommend it or would you go for an older property with more charact
