We need to talk about the matchday parking situation because it's getting worse every season. Took me twenty five minutes to get out of the car park after the Stoke game and I was parked about half a mile from the ground.
The official car parks are a rip off and you're stuck for ages afterwards. The residential streets around Anlaby Road all have permits now so you can't park there. And the walk from the city centre is fine if you're on your own but with two kids under ten it's a bit of a trek.
Anyone got a secret parking spot near the MKM that doesn't involve sitting in traffic for half an hour after the game? I know asking this is basically asking you to share your best kept secret but I'm desperate her

I park near the retail park off St Andrew's Quay and walk across. Takes about fifteen minutes to the ground but after the game you're going in the opposite direction to everyone else so you're in the car and moving within five minutes of the final whistle. The trick to matchday parking is accepting you're going to walk a bit. Anyone who parks right next to the ground deserves the hour they spend stuck in traffic afterwards.

The real secret is the streets behind Walton Street. There's a few residential roads that don't have permits and are about a ten minute walk from the ground. I'm not telling you exactly which ones because then everyone will park there and ruin it. But if you have a drive around about an hour before kick off you'll find them. Leave straight after the final whistle and you're on the A63 within five minutes. Changed my matchday life when I discovered them.
