She's seven and has been asking to go for months so I finally took her to the Stoke game. Just wanted to share because it was such a lovely experience.
We were in the family section in the West Stand and honestly the club have done a really good job making it welcoming for kids. The stewards were great, the people around us were friendly, and she could actually see the pitch from her seat which I was worried about.
She didn't really understand what was going on for the first twenty minutes. Kept asking me which ones are ours and why everyone was shouting. But when Vipotnik scored she jumped up and screamed louder than anyone in our row. From that moment she was hooked. By half time she was chanting come on you Tigers and clapping along with everyone else.
The walk back to the car was the best bit though. She held my hand and said can we come every week mum. Nearly cried on the spot.
This is what it's all about isn't it. Passing it down to the next generation. My dad took me to my first game at Boothferry Park when I was about her age and now I've done the same at the MKM. The ground is different but the feeling is exactly the same.
Anyone else got stories about taking their kids to their first
game?
