My barber just retired and I need a new one. Been going to the same bloke for about eight years and now I feel lost. The thought of walking into a random barbershop and hoping for the best gives me actual anxiety.
I'm in the city centre area mostly so somewhere around there would be ideal. Don't want one of those hipster places that charges thirty quid for a fade and a beard trim. Just someone who knows what they're doing with a pair of clippers and won't make me look like I've had an argument with a lawnmower.
Who do you lot go t
o?

Turkish barbers on Jameson Street. I know there's about four of them now and they all look the same from outside but the one nearest to the Monument is spot on. Fifteen quid for a cut, hot towel, the works. The bloke in there is fast and actually listens to what you want instead of doing whatever he feels like. Been going there for about two years now and never had a bad cut.

Big Lads Barbers on Anlaby Road. Don't let the name put you off. The bloke in there is quality with clippers and it's about twelve quid. No appointment needed, just walk in. He's quick too which I appreciate because I don't want to sit in a chair for forty five minutes making awkward conversation. In and out in fifteen minutes looking fresh. Can't ask for more than that.

There's a really good one on Newland Avenue next to the bookies. Can't remember the name but it's run by a Turkish lad who does an incredible skin fade. My mate recommended it and I've been going there for about a year now. Sixteen quid for a full cut, beard trim, and hot towel. Always happy when I leave which is more than I can say for about half the barbers I've tried in Hull.
