Went into Princes Quay last weekend for the first time in months and it was depressing. Half the shops are empty, there was barely anyone in there, and the food court upstairs feels like a ghost town compared to what it used to be.
I remember when that place was buzzing. Going there as a kid was a proper treat. Topshop, HMV, all the good stuff. Now it's mostly discount shops and pop up stores that last about three weeks before disappearing.
I know high street retail is dying everywhere but Princes Quay seems worse than most. The building itself is actually quite cool being built over the dock but what's the point if nobody's using it?
Does anyone know if there are plans for it? I heard something about converting some of it to offices or flats but don't know if that's just a rumour. Seems like a waste of a decent buildi
