Alright bit of a different post here. I moved to Hull about three months ago for work and before I came I'll admit I had pretty low expectations. Everyone I told in London looked at me like I'd lost my mind.
Turns out they were all completely wrong. This city is brilliant. I'm living in the Avenues area and it's genuinely lovely. Tree lined streets, independent coffee shops everywhere, Pearson Park on my doorstep for my morning runs. My flat is twice the size of my old place in Hackney and costs about a third of the rent.
The people are the biggest thing though. Everyone is so friendly it actually caught me off guard at first. In London you don't make eye contact on the tube. Here the bloke in the corner shop chats to me for ten minutes every morning. My neighbour brought round a cake when I moved in. That literally never happens down south.
Still finding my feet with the food scene and nightlife but from what I've seen so far there's loads going on. Newland Avenue on a Friday night is class. And the waterfront area near the marina is beautiful.
Any tips for a newcomer? Best places to eat, things I should check out, anything I need to know about living here? Che
ers.
