I'm a creature of habit on matchdays. Same routine every home game and if I change anything we lose. I know it's irrational but I'm not risking it.
Wake up, check the team news, have a mild panic about whoever's been dropped. Head into town for about half twelve, two pints in the Brickmakers with the same group of lads I've been going with for fifteen years. Walk to the ground, grab a pie from the concourse, take my seat about ten minutes before kick off. Same seat, same block, same nervous energy.
After the game it depends on the result. Win and we go back to the Brickmakers for a couple more. Draw and I drive straight home in a mood. Lose and I sit in the car park for ten minutes questioning my life choices before driving home in silence.
Tell me I'm not the only one who does this. What's your matchday routine?

Mine hasn't changed in about twenty years. Full English at about ten, check the team news and have the usual argument with my brother about who should be playing, drive to the ground for about half one, park in my spot which I'm not revealing, pie and Bovril on the concourse, same seat in the North Stand. If we win I stay for a pint. If we lose I drive home in silence and don't speak to anyone until at least seven o'clock. My wife has learned not to ask how it went. She can tell from the way I close the front door.

Start in the Old Town about noon. Ye Olde White Harte for the first one then wander down to the Minerva if the weather's decent. Walk to the ground along the waterfront which takes about twenty five minutes and is a nice way to build up to it. After the game back to the Brickmakers for the debrief with the lads. We solve all the club's problems in that pub on a Saturday evening. Nobody listens but we solve them nonetheless.
