Went night fishing down at Victoria Pier last Friday for the first time in about five years. Forgot how peaceful it is sitting there in the dark with just the sound of the water and the odd ship going past.
Didn't catch much. A couple of small whiting and something that might have been a dab but was too small to tell. It's not really about the catching though is it. It's about sitting there with a flask of tea at midnight watching the lights on the south bank and the bridge in the distance and just thinking about nothing for a few hours.
The Humber gets overlooked as a fishing spot because it's not exactly pretty water. But there's decent cod and whiting to be had in winter and bass further down towards Spurn in summer. You just need to know the tides and be prepared for the wind because it's exposed down there.
Any other Hull fishermen on here? Where do you go?
