What’s One Thing You’d Change About Hull?

Shopping. The city centre has improved massively but the retail offering is still behind Leeds and Sheffield. We lost a lot of big stores and they haven’t been replaced. The Princes Quay situation is frustrating — half empty and it used to be buzzing. Would love to see more independent shops...

Best Away Grounds You've Visited Following Hull

Anfield. Went there in the Premier League and it was unbelievable. You'll Never Walk Alone before kick off gave me goosebumps even though I'm not a Liverpool fan. The ground is special, the atmosphere is special, the whole thing. We got hammered but I told everyone I was there. Old Trafford was...

What Do You Love Most About Living in Hull?

The marina on a summer evening is genuinely world class. I’ve travelled a fair bit and Hull’s waterfront holds its own against much bigger cities. People just don’t know about it because they’ve never bothered to visit.

Free Things to Do in Hull With Kids

East Park splash pad in summer is an absolute lifesaver. Our kids would live there if we let them. I’d add the Streetlife Museum next to the Maritime Museum — also free, and the recreated old streets and vehicles are brilliant for kids. They can climb on old trams and explore Victorian shops...

Family Days Out Within 30 Minutes of Hull

Beverley is class, especially on market day. I’d add Burton Constable Hall as well — the grounds are massive and the kids can run around for hours while you enjoy the peace. Also Welton Waters is a nice quiet spot for a walk that most people seem to have forgotten about.

Anlaby vs Beverley vs Cottingham — Where Would You Choose?

We moved from Anlaby to Cottingham two years ago and don’t regret it at all. The village feel is genuinely lovely — the green, the independent shops on Hallgate, the pubs. Schools are great too. It’s a bit more expensive but the quality of life upgrade was worth it for us. Beverley is amazing...

New Restaurant Openings in Hull 2026 — What’s on Your Radar?

The food scene on Princes Avenue and Newland Avenue has got really good. It used to just be takeaways but now there’s proper sit-down restaurants, brunch spots, and specialty places. I heard there’s a new Italian opening near the marina area soon which should be good. Will report back when I’ve...

Planning an Away Day From Hull: Travel Tips

Thought it might be useful to have a thread about the practical side of away days. How do you lot usually travel and are there any tips for making it easier? Driving is the obvious one from Hull because our train connections are useless. Most Championship grounds are within 2 to 3 hours by car...

Family Days Out Within 30 Minutes of Hull

With kids to entertain and a budget to stick to, I’m always looking for good family days out near Hull. Here are some of our favourites within about a 30-minute drive: Beverley — Gorgeous market town, great for a wander. The Minster is free to visit and genuinely impressive. Loads of nice cafes...

Best Coffee Shops in Hull for Remote Working

Since COVID I’ve been working from home most of the week but sometimes you need a change of scenery. I’ve been testing out Hull’s coffee shops as makeshift offices and here’s my report: Bongo Bongo on Newland Avenue — My personal favourite. Great coffee, decent wifi, plenty of plug sockets, and...

Best Curry in Hull? Let’s Settle This Once and For All

Hull might not be Bradford or Birmingham when it comes to curry reputation, but we’ve got some seriously good Indian restaurants and I’m tired of them being overlooked. My go-to for years has been Doram on Princes Avenue. The lamb karahi is incredible — properly spiced, generous portions, and...

MKM Stadium Atmosphere - How Can We Improve It?

Spot on with this. I go home and away and the difference is night and day. 1500 of us away from home and we're singing non stop for 90 minutes. 20000 at the MKM and you can hear a pin drop for most of the game. Its embarrassing sometimes The East Stand does its best but one end cant carry a...

⚽ MATCHDAY: Hull City vs QPR — Saturday 21 Feb, 15:30 @ MKM Stadium | Championship

Going Saturday, East Stand as always. QPR have been shocking on the road this season so no excuses really. Need to come out of the blocks fast and not let them settle. Last time we played them at home it was dead for the first 20 minutes and we let them grow into the game. Cant be having that...
