Hull might not be Bradford or Birmingham when it comes to curry reputation, but we’ve got some seriously good Indian restaurants and I’m tired of them being overlooked.
My go-to for years has been Doram on Princes Avenue. The lamb karahi is incredible — properly spiced, generous portions, and the naan bread is freshly made. It’s not the fanciest place but the food is consistently excellent.
For something a bit more upmarket, Rumi’s on Beverley Road is really good. More of a modern Indian kitchen vibe with some creative dishes alongside the classics. Their sharing platters are brilliant if you’re going with a group.
And for a proper late-night curry after a few pints, Agrah on Beverley Road has been the Hull default for decades. Nothing fancy but it does the job perfectly at midnight on a Saturday.
I know there are loads more — the Avenues area alone has about five curry houses within walking distance. What’s your favour

Doram is the one for me too. Been going there for years and never had a bad meal. The mixed grill starter is unreal. My wife reckons Pasha on Newland Ave is better for Turkish food if you’re counting that as well. Either way the Avenues area is class for food generally.
