Something a bit different from the usual doom and gloom.
I've been thinking about this for a while — if you had to pick Hull City's all-time greatest XI, who gets in? Any formation, any era. Players you actually watched, not ones your grandad told you about.
Here's mine. I've gone 4-4-2 because I'm old fashioned like that:
GK — Boaz Myhill
Rock solid for us during the Championship years. Could've played higher and everyone knew it.
RB — Andy Dawson
Local lad, gave everything every single game. Deserved more than he got.
CB — Michael Turner
Absolute unit. Headed everything that came near him. Partnership with Zat Knight was class.
CB — Curtis Davies
Premier League quality centre half. The fact he stayed with us says a lot.
LB — Andy Robertson
Yes I'm claiming him. He was ours first. Even back then you could see the engine on the lad.
RM — Ryan Mason
Before everything that happened. What a player he was for us. Ran the show.
CM — Nick Barmby
Crossing the divide took some bottle. Proved himself every single week.
CM — Ian Ashbee
Captain, leader, legend. The spine of that promotion team. Would run through a wall for the shirt.
LM — Jarrod Bowen
Another one we knew was too good for us. Absolutely electric on his day.
ST — Dean Windass
Do I even need to explain? That volley at Wembley. The greatest moment in this club's history. End of.
ST — Duane Darby
This is my wildcard. 90s Hull City, third division, Darby was the one bright spot. If you know, you know.
I'm sure I've missed someone obvious. Who have I got wrong? Let's hear your teams.
